Announcing the 2017 Ned Kelly Award Shortlists

The Australian Crime Writers Association today announced the shortlists for the 2017 Ned Kelly Awards for the best in Australian crime writing.

The Best Fiction section this year is a combination of past winners (Candice Fox, Wendy James, Adrian McKinty and Jock Serong), up against some strong newcomers to the awards. True Crime this year has two entrants around the same Australian historical event - the Myall Creek Massacre (Terry Smyth and Mark Tedeschi QC), as well as two historical investigations and two very different aspects of police behavior. Best First is a wide field with styles and settings including rural, city based, humorous, and explorations of family and wider society.
